The Tups are fed mainly on forage; their grass based diet (no cabbages allowed) ensures that they are selected and prepared for commercial conditions. At no stage do the lambs in the pedigree flock receive any creep feed. This allows the true value of their mothers' milking ability and the lambs growth rate to be exhibited when 8 week weights and 24 week weights are transmitted to Signet.

At no point in their lives are they fed more than 1lb of concentrated feed per sheep per day. This ensures that they do not 'Melt' when taken to new premises and it prepares them for a long and productive life. In fact, buyers say that Emblefast Tups continue to grow at their new home.

Through regular use of Artificial Insemination mixing bloodlines from Lumbylaw, Wealden, Callerton, Llanferres and most recently Avon Vale, Drinkstone and Handbank; we have produced Texel Rams and Tups that suit commercial buyers. In 2015 some New Zealand Texel AI lambs were born.  They have shown excellent vigour at birth and are growing well at grass.

We aim to produce tups which produce progeny that are fast growing and muscly. Lamb vigour and time from birth to suckling is also an important trait where selection pressure is applied. Any lamb requiring help to suckle is rejected from the elite flock. The flock have been selected to lamb with minimal intervention.

In 2008 we won the Eblex Most Progressive Flock Award, with data taken from Signet.

"Awarded to the sheep breeders who have made the greatest improvement in breeding potential in that year."
